One of Saskatoon’s longest-running fundraising events, the Royal University Hospital Foundation’s annual Greek Gourmet Feast, hosted by Mano’s Restaurant, raised more than $30,000 last night.
“The staff and I love this event because it gives us a chance to help make a difference by enhancing medical care available in our community,” said Bill Barlas, owner of Mano’s Restaurant.
Through sponsorship, donations, ticket sales and silent auction items, more than $30,000 was raised after expenses to purchase an adult and a pediatric vital sign monitor for Emergency at Royal University Hospital.
Lead Sponsors were Ens Lexus Toyota, Saskatchewan Blue Cross, Daniels Wingerak Engineering and Dr. Seliah Kanthan & Dr. Rani Kanthan.
Over the years, the popularity of the dinner has risen and so has the generosity of those who support the event. In 26 years, the Greek Gourmet Feast has raised more than $590,000 for patient care, education and research at Royal University Hospital.
“We appreciate the ongoing support of Mano’s Restaurant, Saskatoon’s Greek community and all those who support this popular event by volunteering, attending and providing sponsorship over the past 26 years. We are extremely grateful,” said Arnie Arnott, Volunteer Chair of the Royal University Hospital Foundation.
Proceeds from this year’s event bring us one step closer to reaching the $2.8 million goal of the Royal Vital Care appeal, which is raising funds to purchase 96 vital sign monitors, 24 defibrillators and related state-of-the-art computer technology for Royal University Hospital.
The RUH Foundation creates excellence in and impacts health care by raising funds to anticipate and respond to needs for research, education and patient care. In 26 years, the Foundation has raised $65 million for health care priorities at RUH.
