David Maier, Registered Nurse
Royal Vital Care was launched in Sept., 2009, to raise $2.8 million for 96 state-of-the-art vital sign monitors, 24 defibrillators and a centralized monitoring system for Royal University Hospital. This appeal will finish a job already begun by the Saskatoon Health Region to upgrade all the aging vital sign monitors at RUH.
These new vital sign monitors will put critical patient information at the fingertips of doctors and nurses, even between hospitals and between wards. For patients, it’s an extra set of “eyes” watching their vital signs and an important tool in determining their course of treatment.
“The new monitors will permit us to measure and analyze more data. We’ll see trends more quickly. Stay on top of things. If a patient is deteriorating, we will be able to detect it more quickly than before.”
-- David Maier, Registered Nurse, Intensive Care Unit, and a designated Staff Champion of Royal Vital Care
